The industry quiz is an annual membership, networking event organized by the Insurance Training College (ITC) with the aim of bringing industry professionals together to sharpen their knowledge and application of insurance practices. The event took place on Thursday 14th April 2022 at the National Theater and was focused on the areas of Marine, Oil and Gas Insurance. The event was attended by hundreds of individuals both online and in-person.
This year, the event attracted a total of 13 teams, each with a minimum of four (4) participants and a maximum of six (6).
After the first two (2) rounds on general insurance knowledge, 3 teams were knocked out leaving a 10 team face-off for round 3. At round 3, the 10 teams were quizzed on general and marine insurance after which 5 teams were eliminated, leaving 5 teams to compete in round 4. The top five (5) teams were Legacy Insurance services Ltd, NIC, Marsh, UAP-Old mutual, and ICEA in no particular order. The points accumulated in previous rounds were not considered after advancement to the next round.
These top 5 teams then tussled it out in a 2 round battle were Marsh Uganda scored the highest, followed by Legacy and NIC as first and second runners up respectively.
While addressing the audience, Mrs. Sylvia Kajubi, the ITC Academic Registrar who was representing the Principal/CEO said “Thank you to every team that responded to our call for participation and came out here to be apart of this year’s quiz.”
“I know that it requires extensive reading and a lot of sacrifice to prepare for a quiz like this and I applaud each and every participant,” she added.
The top three (3) teams received winners’ awards while all participating companies received a certificate of participation. All team members also got a gift pack from ITC.
The companies that registered and participated in the quiz were Sanlam General, Liberty General Insurance, Statewide Insurance, Goldstar Insurance, Marsh Uganda Ltd, NIC, CIC General Insurance, GA Insurance, Britam, Minet Limited, Legacy Insurance Services Limited, ICEA Lion Insurance, Mayfair Insurance, and UAP-Old Mutual.
